MOSCHINO

Wednesday, 11 November 2009

Firstly, sorry about my absence for the past month! I assure you I have been keeping up to date with reading other blogs but finishing off uni this semester drained all creativity from me and kept me from posting. BUT, I finish officially tomorrow and I can't wait to get back on track and become a much more dedicated blogger!

I have been obsessing over Moschino lately. The humour and wit that Franco Moschino infused into his clothes is genius! I'm not sure what has sparked this sudden interest, but I have been scouring the internet for photos of vintage pieces (and looking on eBay to see if I can score a couple of pieces for myself!).

The dodgy collages above show some of my favourite pieces from the late 80s/early 90s. It's brash and bold and totally out of the box for me, reminding me of Fran Fine in the Nanny, but I can't get it out of my head! Some of his designs remind me of Margiela, there is the same reworking of everday objects into something magnificent. There is also the sense of 'I could DIY that', and while I think I will give a few things ago (like cutlery on a jacket) I'm sure it will lack the workmanship and finesse of the original, just as attempting to recreate a Margiela piece would never quite be right.

I also really admire Moschino's ideology, striving to critique and poke fun at the fashion industry from within.

LONG LIVE MOSCHINO!
