I love her style. I love that she wears clothes that look like they were found in her grandmother's attic. A little vintage, old fashioned and moth-eaten, but loved and lived in and on her, extraordinary. These are the kind of simple clothes that seem like they would be easy to find in a secondhand store or flea market, but that in reality are elusive. The kind of outfits that can't be easily reproduced, because it's not just about the garment but the stories, the experiences, the girl.

fur

One of the things I have missed most about Melbourne is my hairdresser. For the past two years I was going to Fur Hairdressing and every time, no matter which salon or hairdresser, I was always happy. Their salons in Pahran, the City Square and Fitzroy are each beautifully designed, although the city salon is probably my favourite and you can see some photos of the interior here. It is possibly the smallest salon in the world and was originally a fire exit, but is now the best place to get a hair cut, read the best magazines (they always have the latest I-D, Love, Dazed, Vogue Italia etc) and listen to the owner Frank tell the best stories. The Fur Facebook page is also updated regularly with weird and wonderful images from their homegrown shoots, they have their own line of organic shampoo and conditioner, and their stylists are all super friendly and cool without being intimidating or pretentious.

eyelash

Friday, 26 November 2010

These are some images from a shoot and short film I made early last year as part of my Fine Arts degree. I handmade the eyelashes by removing the weft threads from strips of satin, a very time-consuming but somehow theraputic process. My dear boyfriend took the photographs (which is why they are so nice, I cannot take a photo to save my life). I miss making art.

This week I've run out of time for Ebay and Chloe, but I found something even better.
Last night I came across this amazing polyvore set by Monstermovie
These are fantastic in every way. My favourite is Holy Batman Rei.

cross my heart

Moschino printed jeans x 2 from ebay with Topshop striped top, my mum's old knitted jumper and Nilson boots.

I've spent this weekend essay writing, so to cheer myself up I decided to wear fun jeans and this morning went out and bought myself a fresh croissant for breakfast. They sure know how to make em (Moschino: jeans, Paris: pastries).
Now back to the books...

get some

Lykke Li is one of my favourite performers and beyond her music, video clips and crazy dance moves I always love the cover art for her singles. Her first album had fantastic collages, and for her latest single, Get Some, Gustaf and Carl Van Arbin have created some beautiful ink illustrations. They also made some rorschach ink tests and had Lykke interpret them which they shared over at the Opening Ceremony blog.

Test 1: "This could be the Eiffeltower on acid!"
Test 2: "This reminds me of Christmas and its madness. A drunk Santa Clause!"

Test 3: "This looks like an oyster laughing back at me while telling me to not think too much about life and its puzzle."
